Internet marketing has been getting a bad rep for some time now and there are some really good reasons. Internet Marketing and the ability to make money takes a strong discipline and really is like any other business model. Unfortunately over the years this industry has gotten black eyes due to people providing misleading messages and promises that never materialize. People that are considering the idea of becoming an internet marketer have to wade through all the hype and concerns. Many people believe now that it is just a pipe dream that sounds good but only a select few make a dime.

Treat it Like a Business

I talk to tons of people all the time that ask me all types of questions about my internet marketing business and if it is real. I have just a few short questions for them up front to see if they are a tire kicker that will become another 97% statistic or a serious individual. When I ask these questions I can see exactly what type of individual I am working with and if they are really serious about starting a business and becoming a entrepreneur. Here are a couple ideas to help you out when you start an internet marketing business.

• Use Fast Tracking-
You need to use materials that are at your disposal that are free or low cost. These could involve using premade websites to build a blog or small website, books to learn, and write articles on, email campaign, and prewritten articles from other websites. While there are many more, those are just a couple to get you started. You then want to use basic promotional methods to drive traffic to those sites. When you do this it is very likely to put a few hundred dollars in your pocket to reinvest in your business. When you reinvest and enhance your knowledge and your tools, this starts attracting people towards you and frees up more time as you invest in better tools.

• Become a "Bob the Builder"-
You want to build a long term business if you want to make a good amount of income with Internet Marketing. This is going to be the part in your business that is going to take the most discipline. Your goal with this part is not to make a quick buck, but to be building a sustainable foundation. You have to look at it in the sense of building a house to live in forever. If you build a house on sand it could easily shift and fall apart; your Internet marketing business is no different. While starting this part, you need to consider your brand and what you are going to stand for. For example, I teach people how to become Internet Marketers and I stand by my tag line of "Building the Future of Others Today." On a daily basis I have a few conversations with people on how to better promote their business or brand online.

A prime example is to do what I do! I have a blog and websites that educate people how to market themselves, a product, or a service online. I use my blog and websites to provide free tips and ideas on how to accomplish this. With a website or blog you definitely want to add great content every few days to help brand you as an expert, with this great content you keep the readers hungry for more information, just remember to not always give away the kitchen sink everytime!

That is okay, there are many different ways you could obtain content for your site.

• Outsourcing- If you have more money than time you could easily approach an outsourcing provider. I know a really great teamed called Content Divas.
• Trading- This is an idea that many people do. It is like bartering; trading skills between parties (this also builds great relationships). Maybe you are great with website designs and not good with articles, and there is someone out there just the opposite. We all have our strengths!
• Article Directories- There is a few article directory sites that allow you to use other people's articles to put on your site. Just be aware that this does not help as quickly as the others because they have already been indexed by the original authors.

Before You Know It

Building an Internet Marketing business that makes you money is something you have to work on. This is a business model and if you treat it as a business you will reap the benefits. If you want to be successful follow these few steps...take your business serious and never, never, never, ever give up!
